Select Program
Athens United Soccer Association offers peak competitive soccer through our Select program, available for ages 12 to 19. Our teams compete in the Southeastern Club Champions League (SCCL). Teams are divided into divisions based on performance, with seasonal promotions and relegations for balance. One-year player commitment from August to May.
Expectations for Our Select Program
At Athens United Soccer Association, we believe in nurturing talent and fostering a love for the game. Our select program for players aged 12-19 is designed to challenge and inspire young athletes. We expect commitment, teamwork, and a passion for soccer. Players will develop their skills through rigorous training, competitive matches, and a supportive environment that encourages growth both on and off the field.
What is the commitment level?
Players are expected to attend all training sessions and matches. Consistent participation is key to personal and team development.
You can expect 2-3 training sessions per week. Games are on the weekend, with the average being 10 games per season.
Most games are around the Atlanta area, however there are games that may require more travel.
Every team will participate at least 3 tournaments per season. One AUSA tournament will be covered by the registration fee, the other tourament will be an additional cost.
What skills will be developed?
Our select program focuses on improving the technical skills learned from the academy level. We hope to build tactical awareness as the players start to mature and develop.
We aim to help develop not only good soccer players, but also good people. AUSA uses their core values of integrity, discipline, respect, sportsmanship, excellence, and leadership.
How are teams selected?
Teams are formed based on skill level, commitment, and teamwork.
Tryouts occur every year in May. If you miss tryouts and would like to join late, contact our office administrator at admin@athensunited.net to see about availability.

Our coaches emphasize player development, sportsmanship, and a positive attitude. We believe in empowering players to take ownership of their own growth.

Tryouts
Tryouts for Select will be hosted at Holland Youth Sports Complex on May 19-21 and 27-29. Dates and times depend on the age group. Tryouts are free for all players. We ask that you bring a soccer ball, shinguards, and water to tryouts. Please reach out to us if you have any questions.
