“I am very excited to announce the addition of current Oconee County HS, Women’s Head Coach Judson Hamby to our organization,” Jason Lockhart, Athens United Sporting Director said. “Judson has been an outstanding coach for many years, having most recently coached with Gwinnett Soccer Association (GSA) and Parkview High School. Throughout my time in club soccer, I have found it important to ensure that local school coaches are involved with our programs. I know the addition of Judson, who has already made a commitment to soccer in this community by moving from Atlanta to the area, will help to continue solidifying the relationship between our program and the school coaches in our area. I have known him for a long time, and I fully anticipate him having a tremendous impact on our success.”

Welcome Home, Ted Colburn! Athens United is proud to announce the return of Ted Colburn to the Athens area as our new Academy Director. Ted, a 1993 graduate of the University of Georgia, has been involved in youth soccer in Georgia for decades, most recently at NASA/Tophat. He brings a wealth of expertise and knowledge to our organization. “Today is an exciting day for Athens United and youth soccer in our community,” Jason Lockhart, Athens United Sporting Director said. “My objective since becoming involved with this club was to secure the finest coaching talent possible, and I believe Ted’s hiring is a testament to that goal. From over 20 years of knowing Ted and his players, I believe there are few better in this country at developing young talent than him. Ted joining our team and community is a monumental step forward for soccer in the Classic City.”

Athens United is proud to announce Martin Suiza as our new Recreational Soccer Director. Martin has been with the club for over a decade and has served in numerous roles during his tenure. “Martin has been an invaluable member of our organization for many years,” Jason Lockhart, Athens United Sporting Director said. “He constantly displays the passion and determination necessary to engage the local soccer community in all facets. He also understands the vital role recreational soccer plays in the development and success of a club. I am excited for Martin to receive this role and look forward to watching him contribute to our organization’s growth in the years to come.”
