Dear Athens United parents, players and coaches:
Since this past weekend's (Aug. 14 & 15, 2021) tournament, the club has learned that players on five of our teams have had positive diagnoses for the Covid-19 virus. These teams are: U8/U9 Boys Academy team (2 cases), U19 Girls NL team (3 cases), U14 Girls Gold GPL team (2 cases), U16 Boys Black team (2 cases) and the U12 Boys Academy team (2 cases).
Below is a link regarding the current CDC and Georgia Department of Public Health quarantine guidance for when a person has been in close contact with a person diagnosed with Covid-19. According to the Georgia Dept. of Public Health, if a person has been exposed to someone with the virus, the appropriate response will vary depending on vaccine status, the presence of symptoms, and the use and timing of diagnostic testing. Please review the detailed guidance provided in the link below and act responsibly and in accordance with these considerations.
The affected teams will neither train this week nor participate in any scheduled games this coming weekend. Coaches will be in touch with the affected teams in the near future.
Lloyd White
Executive Director
