News Detail

May, 2020

Dear AUSA Academy Players and Parents:

We want to update you about the upcoming evaluation period for our Academy teams for the Fall 2020 – Spring 2021 seasons.  This includes all rising U9, U10, U11, and U12 players, born in 2009 through 2012.

Our soccer sanctioning bodies, US Youth Soccer and Georgia Soccer, have both now permitted member clubs to hold tryouts for the upcoming Fall 2020 - Spring 2021 soccer seasons.  Georgia Soccer has set the dates for May 26, 27, and 28.  However, our club finds itself in a challenging position.  While we wish to resume soccer operations in a safe manner, Athens-Clarke County owns Holland Park and it has not set a re-opening date for it or any other of its soccer fields. As a result, Athens United has decided not to conduct a traditional evaluation period for Academy age players this year.  Instead, all rising U9-U12 players who were rostered on an AUSA Academy team last year will be offered positions on their age appropriate team for the upcoming Fall 2020 – Spring 2021 season without any further assessment.  If you fall into this category, please note that you must still register in order to be placed on a team for the Fall 2020 season (see the registration link below).  Any new players who were not in our Academy program last year who wish to join this year will be assessed during normal Athens United team training sessions, which we hope to begin in July 2020.

Over the coming days, our coaches will be contacting all current Academy players.

Please remember, both new and returning players who wish to be put on an Athens United Academy team for the upcoming Fall 2020 – Spring 2021 seasons must register through the link below.

All New Players will be contacted directly after registering and assessed in July on a date to be determined.
