Spring Season Begins!

Important Information for Spring!

SAME TEAM!!! It appears that everyone is returning for the spring season. If that is not the case and your daughter has decided to pursue other adventures, let me know ASAP.

SAME PRACTICE TIME- We will continue to practice at 8:30 am on Saturdays at Willard. We are going to start practicing this Saturday, April 8, 2018. It is a week early and maybe a little cold, but there is a big change in the rules for this season--BUILD OUT LINE (see below)--that I want to make sure we go over with the girls, so they are ready for it.

SAME GAME TIMES!- We continue to play at 12:30 pm (arrive between 12:00 and 12:15). I will add the games to the shutterfly site. The first game is 4/15/2018 at Leahy Park.

SNACK SIGNUP- Please sign up for snack duty on the shutterfly site. I will populate the Blue Sombrero site with the information.

GAME ATTENDANCE- As with the fall, if your daughter is not going to be at the game, please let us know either by email, shutterfly/blue Sombrero, or telling us at practice, by the Saturday before the game. This makes it easier for us to make the line up and less craziness before and during the game shifting things around.

NO JEWELRY OR HOODIES- As a reminder, the girls are not allowed to wear jewelry during practice or the game. This includes ear rings. This is for safety reasons and will be enforced at the games. Also, no hoodies!! Yes, it could be cold the first few games (heck it is Chicago it could be cold for all the games in the spring). The girls can wear sweatshirts, leggings, sweatpants, etc... under their uniforms, but no hoddies. People tend to grab during play and that can be dangerous.

CLEAT EXCHANGE- There will be a cleat exchange on the 14th and 15th at Play it Again Sports in the Evanston Plaza on Dempster. This is a great way to get newish cleats for free (and get rid of any old ones).

CONTINUED GREAT SIDELINE SUPPORT: Thanks for all your positive support of the girls during the fall season. It helped make things a lot of fun for the girls (and the coaches)! So keep up the good work!

BUILD OUT LINE: As spectators, I thought you may be interested in the new rule change. AYSO has incorporated a "build out line" in between the goal box and center line. When there is a goal kick or the goalkeeper makes a save, the attacking team has to go behind the build out line (similar to the goal kick rule for U06 where the kids had to go behind the half way line). The purpose of the build out line is to promote player development- allowing a team to play the ball out of the back in a pressure-free (or less pressured zone) at the start of goal kicks and when goal keepers have possession of the ball. In addition, the build out line and not the halfway line will be the marker for offside violations.
