Week 3 Preview

Hello R213 Families,

Week 3 of games is tomorrow. This season has gotten better each week, I hope everybody is enjoying. Below are some things to keep in mind and remember.

U7 and U8 teams (all teams):

Parents, if your game is scheduled to start at 10:00 you should be to the field by 9:45 or earlier. Please do not show up right at 10:00. The game needs to start at 10:00, but the coach needs to do warm-ups, the referee needs to do check-in, and you need to find parking, or the field. Always plan on at least 15 minutes before your game time starts. Don't make your team start the game without you.

Attention all coaches, referees, volunteers:

The region has always needed and run on volunteers. And we want to thank you for volunteering or considering volunteering. We are doing a little better this year, but not where we need to be.

R213 now has a Volunteer Point System. If you haven't heard about it yet, you will. It not only affects end of season standings, participation awards, and mid or post season parties, but also just helps us to run the region smoother.

We are using a very short Google form to help us track the VPS, as well as keep you and the coaches updated. If you volunteer or plan to volunteer, claim your volunteer credit so you don't forget
and so we can update our info. The form is on our website, under volunteer point system. (Or click here.)

Calling all Refs:

We have slightly fewer games, but our coverage is great this week across all age groups.
- We have five assistant referee spots open for the under 10 and older games.

- We do have six uncovered games at Woodbury Park, for the U7 and U8. If you are a more experienced referee and would like to help the younger kids this weekend, please consider signing up for one of their games tomorrow.

- We have 3 midweek games this week, all are covered. Thank you to the refs for those night games.

Interested to become a referee?

Visit our website to see a list of referee courses available (and how to find the most current list yourself), as well as how to sign up, and what the different class options are. Most will be the U10+ courses.

Several people have asked for us to host another course for u8. If you are able to attend a course, we'll put one together if we get enough people. Fill out interest form (only 1 minute needed to fill out) as soon as possible, so we can determine if we can put the class together. (Form here)

Please consider joining the crew of referees for Region 213 and help us prevent cancelled games. For any questions, see the website or email rra or myself.

U5, U6 relocation

Don't forget, these divisions are moved over to Harvard field C. This is the field close to the skate park and to the community center.

U4 playground

As with the other younger divisions, Playground is moved to Harvard C. Also, I don't think we can do a second session at the weekday, but we may split the group in half and do a second session right afterward, around 11:30 or 12. Please let me know tonight if you would like or are willing to move your playground session at 11:30.

Sideline Behavior

THANK YOU!. We have had very good sideline behavior overall so far this season. Let's keep it up. Let's remember that this is youth sports, our kids are working hard, there are no college scouts, and our referees and coaches make mistakes too. We appreciate your continued respect and self control during our games.

Play hard, stay hydrated, and enjoy your season.
